A Border Collie that cannot switch off will invent its own job, and you rarely like the one it picks. A ball it can push and steer around the garden gives it a better option.
55 cm is the size most owners end up with. It is wide enough that the dog works with its chest and shoulders instead of its jaw, and the ballistic fabric cover is there for the moments when it uses the jaw anyway.
CollieBall started in San Francisco in 2021 as the original herding ball. Inside sits an inflatable inner ball with a needle valve. Over it goes the ballistic cover, which handles the teeth and the claws so the inner ball only has to hold air.

Replaceable inner ball
The cover is what keeps the inner ball out of trouble. If the inner ball does need replacing after a few hard seasons, we sell the 55 cm one on its own, so the cover and the bag stay with you.
Is 55 cm the right size?
55 cm is the all-rounder: Border Collie, Poodle, Beagle and similar builds, 38 to 50 cm at the shoulder. Measure from the ground to the top of the shoulder blade, not to the head. Dogs sitting right on the line between two sizes do better with the bigger one. The size guide walks through it.

A needle valve holds air noticeably longer than a standard push valve. The cost is filling time: a pump with a needle adapter is the minimum, and a compressor saves you the effort.
