Designed in San Francisco, 2021. Coming to Europe from our Zagreb warehouse. Four sizes, from Corgi to Malinois.
We built the first one in 2021.
CollieBall launched the first fabric-covered inflatable herding ball in June 2021. The first copies appeared on Amazon five months later. We have kept building the same two layers since.

Built for power chewers
Ballistic outer shell
An extremely tough ballistic fabric, with double-stitched seams and heavy nylon thread.
Nothing to grab
The double zipper has a detachable puller. Once it is closed, there is nothing loose for a dog to work at.
Replace the part, not the ball
The inflatable inner ball is sold on its own, so you replace one part instead of the whole ball.
A tired dog is a good dog
A dog with a job to do has somewhere to put its energy. The ball gives it one. Some dogs shove it around for ten minutes and wander off, others keep going until you take it away.
It is closer to a piece of equipment than to a toy you replace every weekend.
Questions about herding balls
What is a herding ball?
It is a large inflatable ball, sized so the dog cannot pick it up. The dog shoves it around with nose and shoulders instead, which is close to how herding breeds were bred to move stock.
What size does my dog need?
Measure at the shoulder, not the head. 45 cm for dogs up to 37 cm · 55 cm for 38–50 cm · 75 cm for 51–62 cm · 95 cm for 63 cm and up. Between two sizes? Take the bigger one.
Which breeds is it for?
Border Collies, Australian Shepherds, German Shepherds, Malinois and Corgis. French Bulldogs, Staffies and mixed breeds with drive get on with it too. If your dog needs a job, this is one.
How is CollieBall different from the copies?
Ballistic fabric, double-zipper closure, replaceable inner ball. CollieBall created this category in June 2021. The copies came five months later.
Is it tough enough for a Malinois?
We designed the ballistic cover and the double zipper around exactly that question. There is nothing loose for the dog to grab and nothing soft to bite through. And if the inner ball does give out, you replace the inner ball on its own.
Can I use it for treibball?
Yes. All four sizes work for treibball practice. The ballistic cover gives the right push-grip without letting the dog pick it up.
